Das XOOPS Development Team freut sich über die Freigabe von XOOPS 2.3.0 Alpha 2. Das Ziel dises Releases wird die Zusammenlegung der Versionen 2.0 und 2.2 und als Brücke auf dem Weg zu unserer nächsten Generation von XOOPS sein: die Version 3.0 heißt. Mit der XOOPS 2.3 Release, werden die Nutzer in der Lage sein zu lernen, einige neue Funktionen zu sehen und Entwickler können besser die Richtung der Entwicklung verstehen. Designer werden lernen können, welche Funktionen unterstützt werden. Es werden beide vorwärts-und rückwärtskompatibilität gewährleistet sein, damit von den Version 2.0 und 2.2 die Upgrademöglichkeit besteht. Die Version 2.3 wird automatisch kompatibel sein zur Version 3.0 in der Zukunft. Die vollständige News gibt es hier auf xoops.org zum nachlesen mit Download.

Xoops is too big for a “quick death” but it will be a -”life fossil”. “Xoops Development Team” and bla, bla, but according to SF the “Team” is only ONE person; only phppp is submiting code. The wonderful “Xoops Theme Contest” was a pretty ridiculous; nobody is working in the wiki; dev.xoops.org is down for months; if you do click in the main page will see yourself: module repository (relics), themes (more relics), faqs (abandoned), etc…and the look is clearly outdated .
Today, Xoops as project can’t compete with Drupal or Joomla.

ha ha ha! anonimus strikes again with its bashing of XOOPS.
You might ask yourself why some of the things are true? Who was in charge of XOOPS in the past? Several of the people who are now running ImpressCMS. They clearly didn’t work on improving of XOOPS main Website, but instead went off to create Websites like xoopsinfo, xoopsaddons, which then they took over to impresscms, shut them down, and left us with nothing.
So the currents XOOPS users and developers have to rebuild the XOOPS Website pretty much from scratch. But don’t worry - we’ll get there. The dev.xoops.org will be open soon, and the Website look will be updated too.
And despite all your bashing, XOOPS is doing OK. We are getting awards, the number of users is growing, we’re getting closer to our next major release of Version 2.3, so life is good!!!

What is your point? People come and go, the management structures change, people disagree and leave. What is new?
My point is that from the XOOPS Community perspective XOOPS development is going forward, and the users appreciate it because the number of users is going up.
Trust me, XOOPS is doing fine
