They are selfish! XOOPS is a profesional and very strong project in my point of view.
simple-xoops seems to be a functional fork.
27. Dezember 2007 @ 21:34
cube is like death project and their members spam XOOPS forums because nobody visit them.
Long live XOOPS!!

ImpressCMS?? Huge Ego-trip, but nothig else. They are just copying everything from XOOPS, but have nothing coming from themselves. Long live XOOPS!!!!

Mr Anonymous. I think that you are vastly mistaken. ImpressCMS is a great competition.
3. Januar 2008 @ 20:34
Mistaken? When I look at the source I don\’t see anything new and innovative except the name and logo - everything was already developed by the XOOPS community. You can\’t take a few modules from GIJoe or the EXM admin interface and do some tweaking here and there and then call it a \’new CMS to impress\’. Did they ask the XOOPS community if we need another XOOPS fork after we have XOOPS-Cube? The answer would be loud and clear - we don\’t!
It\’s just a huge ege-trip for the people involved - just because they couldn\’t take over XOOPS and call the shots there, they decided to create a fork so they can be in charge of it. Let\’s call it as it is - a huge ego-trip.

Rene, could it be that you are one of the ImpressCMS members, therefore is your opinion about ImpressCMS so positive? Oh, I got it now!
3. Januar 2008 @ 20:50
I am dealing with the ImpressCMS because I think the progress XOOPS not enough. Therefore, I am looking for alternatives. Possibly, I was ImpressCMS and with Simplexoops two alternatives. Yes, I work hard for this. Why not?
I see the changelog of both systems (ImpressCMS + simple-xoops) and I see progress and I see innovation. That requires the user and also myself.
4. Januar 2008 @ 00:05
Rene, why do you need to support an ego-trip of other people and contribute to yet another split of the XOOPS community? Is the disaster with X-Cube not enough? Is it not easier to support progress and innovation directly at XOOPS? Why do you want to become a toy in hands of ego-driven people who are more interested in power than in the prosperity of XOOPS!
Make a survey within the XOOPS community and the message will be loud and clear: stop the power fighting, lower your egos, and start working together to help XOOPS, instead of splitting the community and the efforts!
4. Januar 2008 @ 00:36
Have you ever you thought about why so many users leave the project? In my opinion, this is not due to the ego of the user. It is the way the project will continue. That is my personal view. And that there are consequences.
4. Januar 2008 @ 01:34
ImpressCMS is not created by users but by few developers. That’s the difference. Users want XOOPS without politics and ego trips.
But some developers just don’t care about the users - they want to be in control of the project, any project. They did not succeed with taking over XOOPS, so they created ImpressCMS.
Again, where is the innovation in ImpressCMS? Stitching things together is not innovation. Compare it to EXM - now this is real innovation!
Why do you want to become a toy in hands of ego-driven people who are more interested in power than in the prosperity of XOOPS!

Then, unfortunately, did you not understand my words. To express it clearly: The users are the power. Users decide on the development. The most important capital in a community are the users. If you would like to go his way as phppp, and the users are not respected, then a bad end. That’s it. For me, which is now finished and I will no longer write words, or has the no end.

Rene, the User (Benutzer) Developer (Entwickler). We have 20 Developers who are listed on ImpressCMS. Several of them continue to be XOOPS developers as well. So this is not a massive exodus of XOOPS developers as you would like to see it.
XOOPS Community has thousands of Users, and all of them want the ego-driven fights to stop. They want one XOOPS that is innovative and successful.
Unfortunately, ImpressCMS is contributing to division of the XOOPS community, and the only winner will be Joomla, Drupal, and other CMS.
You are talking about phpp being disrespectful to the users. Was he disrespectful to you? What did he do to you personally that you feel being disrespected?
He delivered three releases of XOOPS in the last 5 months, and the Users are quite happy as their appreciative comments indicate:

XOOPS…dividing the community…ego-driven….humm; this remembers to me a lot of posts in XOOPS forums.
I believe that all xoopers must to understand that today XOOPS are two people: phppp and kris; if the best xoopers have done impresscms is simply because they can not work in XOOPS.
Anyone remember the Community Teams? Do you remember to Jenclass, Akitson, Tom, Skenow, Incama, Snow, Madfish, Predator, Vaughan, Marcan, davidl2 and 20 more names?. Are they working in XOOPS? Are they guilty? All of them are mistake…
12. Januar 2008 @ 00:31
ugg, anything but xoops. I hung in there for much too long but finally gave up almost two years ago and every time I look it is the same and worse. I don\’t care about the politics and worse, don\’t want to hear about it or a rehash of history that always comes up over there.
So while looking at alternatives for the massive job of moving away from xoops which in my mind is a hopeless mess I came upon these forks. Who knows what will happen with the forks but if I can do the easier move to a fork then I\’m much happier. I know that xoops.org is going nowhere. Good intentions and all, I have zero faith in xoops.org.

just stop the bitching …
There were so many reasons for the split. And everyone watching the drama long enough knows that it ranged from personal problems, people just posting there to create havoc, disagreement on the future development of xoops (how it should be done) disagreement on how x.o should look like, disagreement about the need of a foundation, disagreement about the teams, disagreement about ono, skalpa, phppp (could go on like forever) - blah tons of reasons.
All this adding up: really we(as in “all” … users, devs …) tried for two years but i believe even if you gave it another two years … no way to fix all this. So now everyone can move on. Everyone makes his choice which direction and features he prefers. Many will follow both for some time anyway?
Did you notice that the fighting on Xoops.org stopped (nearly complete)? Did you notice that there are people working on x.o again instead of fighting? Likewise do those on impresscms as you can see.
so now we have two teams working instead of fighting. It seems very clear that less people on both projects are getting much more done in much shorter time and a much friendlier atmosphere.
the remaining small problem is that there are people out there that think only their personal opinion is the right one about this situation. I don´t claim my view as the ultimate and only one. Its mine - and as long as i see more positive aspects about all this it is what it is. You may very well differ. But we should not force our opinions on others. And thats something everyone should realize.
btw: do you still see the guys of mambo and joomla fighting? I don´t think so
